Constellation Software sees revenues rise in Q1, earns US$94 million

TORONTO — Constellation Software Inc. says its net income attributable to shareholders was US$94 million, down four per centfrom US$98 million a year earlier. The Toronto-based company says earnings per diluted share were US$4.44, down from US$4.63 a year earlier. Constellation, which reports in U.S. dollars, says revenue for the quarter ended March 31 was US$1.9 billion.That’s up 34 per cent from US$1.4 billion the same quarter a year ago. BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Cook Medical will cut 500 jobs under a plan to refocus efforts on product innovation, the Indiana-based maker of medical devices said Monday.The cuts affecting about 4% of its global workforce will include about 223 workers in the U.S., including about 123 in Indiana. Cook Medical said the layoffs will affect sales representatives and other workers dealing with customers. No hourly workers in manufacturing or distribution will be laid off, the Bloomington-based company said.Cook announced the layoffs to all of its more 10,000 employees in an email from company president Pete Yonkman on Monday afternoon. Chicagoans come off a cool Mother's Day weekend. High temps averaged 3.5-deg below normal Sat & Sun—but when low temps are included, the weekend was actually finished close to normal. Stillwater native Ben Warian is in a great position to contend after the first round of the NCAA Bath Regional men’s golf tournament. The Gophers junior shot a 4-under 67 on Monday at Eagle Eye Golf Club in Bath, Mich.That leaves the Hill-Murray grad in a tie for fifth overall with two rounds to play. A man who died after a weekend shooting in St. Paul was identified by police Monday as Michael Martin, 35.Multiple people called 911 at 2:38 a.m. Saturday to report that someone was shot in the Dayton’s Bluff area. Officers found Martin in a house in the 1000 block of Pacific Street. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the hospital, according to police.No one was under arrest as of Monday and police said they are investigating the circumstances of the shooting, including where it happened. Investigators asked anyone with information to call them at 651-266-5650.Martin’s homicide was the 14th of the year in St. Paul.
