Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 17:07:09 GMT

Healthy-scratch Trent Brown among Patriots’ Week 17 inactives vs. Bills

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 17:07:09 GMT

Patriots left tackle Trent Brown is inactive Sunday against the Bills despite having been removed from the injury report Friday. The Patriots gave Brown a pay bump worth $2 million in added incentives in September with the goal to keep him on the field. Since Brown missed time with knee and ankle injuries at midseason, meaning he wouldn’t receive all of his increased pay, they’ve had trouble keeping him motivated over the final weeks of the season, according to a source.Brown has been more outspoken with the media in recent weeks, as well. He was upset about a report from Sports Illustrated that he’s “perpetually late.” He’ll be a free agent after the season.Vederian Lowe and Andrew Stueber, who was elevated from the practice squad Saturday, are the Patriots’ available left tackles. Stueber is set to make his NFL debut if he gets on the field. Here’s the full list of Patriots inactives:S Jabrill PeppersQB Nathan Rourke (emergency third Q...

MONTREAL — The Quebec government is asking the public to be prudent as they celebrate the New Year and take steps to avoid the transmission of respiratory viruses at a time when hospitals remain crowded. The Health Department says people should stay home if they have a fever and is encouraging people to wear a mask if they have symptoms of a respiratory virus. It issued a news release Saturday saying people with minor illness should consider accessing health-care through other services instead of going to the ER. It says the majority of patients who go to hospital ERs don’t require that level of care.According to health information website Index Santé, The province’s emergency rooms are currently at 121 per cent of capacity.Average occupancy rates in Quebec ERs have been above 100 per cent every day since Dec. 27, following a four-day period when average occupancy rates dropped below 100 per cent for the first time since Nov. 12.This report by The Canadian Press was first...

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 17:07:09 GMT

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A California law that bans people from carrying firearms in most public places will take effect on New Year’s Day, even as a court case continues to challenge the law.A U.S. district judge issued a ruling Dec. 20 to block the law from taking effect, saying it violates the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and deprives people of their ability to defend themselves and their loved ones. But on Saturday, a federal appeals court put a temporary hold on the district judge’s ruling. The appeals court decision allows the law to go into effect as the legal fight continues. Attorneys are scheduled to file arguments to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in January and in February. The law, signed by Democratic Gov.
