Published Mon, 24 Feb 2025 18:22:17 GMT

(WTVO) -- On Saturday, the moon will partially obscure the sun in a “ring of fire” solar eclipse. Tens of millions in the Americas will have front-row seats for the rare phenomenon. Unlike the last solar eclipse, which was a total solar eclipse that occurred in August, 2017, Saturday's eclipse will be what's called an annular solar eclipse — better known as a ring of fire. Because the moon is farther away than it would be during a total solar eclipse, it doesn’t block out the entire sun. Instead, it leaves a bright ring of the sun visible during the eclipse — that’s where the name “Ring of Fire” comes from. The “Ring of Fire” will be visible in a narrow path that stretches from Oregon to Texas, as well as parts of Mexico, Central America, and South America. But outside of the path, people will still be able to...

Untested rookie Jaren Hall is suddenly the Vikings’ true backup quarterback

Published Mon, 24 Feb 2025 18:22:17 GMT

Vikings rookie quarterback Jaren Hall has benefited from a gradual ramp-up to start his NFL career. After learning the nuances of playing the position in training camp, Hall served as the emergency quarterback for the Vikings through the first month of this season. That gave him a taste of what to expect at the highest level while keeping him insulated behind both starting quarterback Kirk Cousins and backup quarterback Nick Mullens. That’s no longer the case as Hall is suddenly the true backup quarterback on the roster. He stepped into the role last week with Mullens working through a back injury that has since landed him on injured reserve. As a result, Hall is now the cliched one snap away from being thrust into action should anything happen to Cousins. How much does that change things for Hall? Not much.“You always try to be prepared regardless of the depth chart,” Hall said. “That’s kind of how I’ve always approached the game.”Though head ...
