Music has always been at the bloody goat’s heart of TRVE Brewing Co. And music is what convinced the owners of the 11-year-old brewery that it was time for a second location. At some point in 2024, TRVE will open a 3,500-square-foot taproom next to Denver’s Mission Ballroom, on the ground floor of the 11-story Mica RiNo apartment complex. The building is part of the larger North Wynkoop development at Brighton Boulevard and 43rd Street.“I had been keeping my ear to the ground and looking at prospective locations. This was the first one that made a lot of sense,” Nunns said, talking about the proximity to the music venue. The taproom “will be about beer and heavy metal. The same things we have always been about.”Hyoung Chang, The Denver PostDenver, CO – JUNE 10 : Dining space of TRVE Brewing Co. is photographed in Denver, Colorado on Friday, June 10, 2022. Goats are particularly good at one thing: Eating. Unlike a horse or cow that leaves noxious weeds behind, goats eat the whole menu of pesky weeds, bushes, and small trees. That means goats can be one of the answers to the growing problem of tinder-dry, highly flammable forests. In Durango, former firefighter Jonathan Bartley runs a business called DuranGoats, along with partner Adrian Lacasse, and it’s so popular they’re booked daily. Their herd usually works along the wildland-urban interface of the San Juan National Forest, clearing undergrowth around private houses in heavily wooded, steep areas at the town’s periphery. Thanks to his work, Bartley has come to a conclusion about newcomers to the West: “When people move here thinking ‘I’d love to live in the woods,’ they’re probably making a big mistake.” If they do choose to live surrounded by trees or next to a forest, though, he has advice.Because utilities cut off electricity during fires, he suggests buying a generator to keep s...Migrant arrivals in Denver have increased so quickly that the city asked for help from the National Guard

The “unprecedented” number of migrants landing in Denver in recent weeks has grown so quickly that the city announced plans to once again shorten the length of time individuals can stay in temporary shelters — though it’s extended the time limit for families.Denver city leaders also requested assistance from the Colorado National Guard in the last week. But because the state had not declared a state of emergency and activated the National Guard, state officials instead sent civilian employees to help.On Tuesday, 122 migrants arrived in Denver, bringing the number of people staying in temporary shelters to 2,510, according to city data. The recent influx has been driven in part by charter buses sent to Denver and other cities by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s administration as that state contends with a sharp increase in crossings at the Mexican border.“Over the past week the daily average of new arrivals is nearly 300,” a city news release stated....3 of our favorite bites from Michelin-recommended restaurants in Denver

While it might be difficult to get a reservation at Denver’s three newly Michelin-starred restaurants, there’s still plenty of Michelin love to go around. In addition to Michelin-starred Bruto, The Wolf’s Tailor and Beckon, Denver is now home to eight out of nine Bib Gourmand restaurants and 15 out of 30 Michelin-recommended restaurants. All of these are different categories, with the stars being the highest honor.Recommended restaurants mean that the guidebook’s reviewers felt they enjoyed a good meal with quality ingredients, according to Michelin. But not at the same level as the stars.Still, there’s no better time to be eating around town and indulging in the restaurants that are putting Denver’s food scene on the map. Here are three of my favorite recent bites from Michelin-recommended restaurants around the Mile High City:Temaki Den: Salmon oshizushiYou can’t go wrong with anything on Temaki Den’s menu. But once you pop a piece of salmon oshizushi in your mout...Metro Denver home prices hanging on tight despite a drop in sales

A chill settled on the metro Denver housing market last month as the typical end-of-summer slowdown combined with higher mortgage rates to drive sales down by a fifth from the levels seen in August, according to a monthly update from the Denver Metro Association of Realtors. The Daily Mortgage News reported the average rate on 30-year loans is now around 7.7%. Across several measures, the metro Denver housing market is softening. But buyers still aren’t getting what they really want — a significant drop in prices.“While overall the data reflects marginal changes, this small indicator showcases that prices are still strong,” Libby Levinson-Katz, chairwoman of the DMAR Market Trends Committee and a local Realtor said in comments accompanying the report.Closings for both homes and condos fell nearly 21% last month from August and they are down 28.2% from September of last year. Some of that monthly decline is seasonal, but the monthly drop in sales last year was 8.4% and t...Broncos fans could have two chances to spy Taylor Swift in October

The hottest thing in football right now is actually pop music.Since singer Taylor Swift first made an appearance at the Kansas City Chiefs game on Sept. 24, her suspected relationship with tight end Travis Kelce has been the most talked about storyline in the NFL. She reappeared in box seats over the weekend with several famous friends such as Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds for Sunday Night Football when the Chiefs took on the New York Jets. The Swift effect is in full force, sending Kelce jersey sales skyrocketing and attracting more women to the game. Sunday Night Football viewership among girls ages 12 to 17 was up significantly (53%), according to NBC, as was viewership among women ages 18 to 24 (up 24%) and women older than 35 (up 34%).A Taylor Swift appearance could bolster the Denver Broncos’ so-far lackluster season. While it’s unclear if the reigning queen of pop music will attend any more NFL games, local Broncos fans and Swifties will have two chances to possibly catch her...Coors family teams up with real estate firm to transform 100-year-plus industrial site

Denver-based Spruce Power Holding Corp., which converts commercial trucks into hybrid vehicles, exaggerated revenue projections and misled investors as part of its public offering nearly three years ago, according to charges filed against the company last week by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.Spruce Power, previously known as XL Fleet before changing its name last November, went public in December 2020 through a merger with a special purpose acquisition company or SPAC.XL Fleet, in its public filings ahead of the merger, claimed it had a 12-month pipeline of $220 million in sales and projected $1.4 billion in sales three years out, estimates the SEC called “misleading.”The SEC alleged the future sale estimates consisted almost entirely of speculative opportunities, including sales to potential customers the company had little or no contact with, customers XL Fleet couldn’t legally sell its products to and stale prospects. “THIS IS A TEST": If you have a cellphone or are watching television Wednesday, that message will flash across your screen as the federal government tests its emergency alert system used to tell people about emergencies. The Integrated Public Alert and Warning System sends out messages via the Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts. All U.S. cellphones, TVs and radios will receive an alert on Oct. 4: Here’s why The Emergency Alert System is a national public warning system that's designed to allow the president to speak to the American people within 10 minutes during a national emergency via specific outlets such as radio and television.
